CHAKWAL: Barrister Malik Bilal Haider while addressing at Chakwal Press Club regarding intellectual Property Rights, he told that copyrights trademark, patent, industrial designs and planning breed are the five aspects of intellectual property rights and certain ordinances were functional in the country and piracy is a very serious crime and if someone found guilty he could be sentenced for three years and also a fine of Rs. 1 lac and the govt. institutions, FIA, Police, Pakistan Customs and PEMRA are the competent authorities to proceed against any complaint that is to be brought before them. Barrister Bilal further told that to provide justice within 6 months special IP tribunals were functioning at province level and in Punjab a tribunal is functioning at Lahore. Barrister Bilal further told that every registered material that is to be pirated or stolen and it published illegally without the permission of the author, the matter is to be brought before the competent authority. He told that in Pakistan awareness among the general public is improving and Pakistan has become an improving country as compared to China and Libeya where number 2 material and other things are increasing day by day. He suggested that those businessmen and traders who had flourishing business must get registered their name and firm and in this way trademark is to be protected otherwise without registration any one can com and using that established name with just a minor difference can exploit the situation. On this occasion to fight against piracy and cheating a cake was cut and it was expressed that the society would move against the piracy and cheating of established material.
