Chakwal Distt. Is among the most sensitive districts of Punjab during the month of Muharram and army troops are to be deployed in Distt. Chakwal to assist the Distt. Administration to maintain law and order situation and any untoward incident during 6th to 12th of Muharram. Special security plan has been issued by DPO Chakwal M. Haroon Joyia and Mr. Joyia briefed about the Muharram’s processions in a high level meeting on Monday and it was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Umar Jahangir. Army officials and all the concerned departments were present on this occasion. DPO told that 100 CCTV cameras have been installed at the most sensitive locations and it would be monitored at the police control room. DPO told that 149 processions and 175 Majalis would be held during the month of Muharram and 7th Muharram Chakwal’s procession and 8th Muharram Talgang’s procession were the most sensitive and some very special and fool proof security arrangements have been made for these processions. He further told that 660 volunteers have been issued the security card and these volunteers will also assist the local police and other law enforcing agencies. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Umar Jahangir told on this occasion that Pakistan Army troops have been called and all the assistant commissioners of 5 tehsils were directed that they should have a vigilant eye to maintain law and order situation.
